Rhubarb-Preservation-Project Contributes To
Multiple Rhubarb Samples
An important rhubarb-preservation-project of all varieties of rhubarb for generations to come is currently taking place at this seed sanctuary.
The Abazs family of Round River Farm in Minnesota, is devoted to all things natural, and have been working at living their lifestyle for years in so many capacities of everyday living.
The rhubarb project they are involved in, is just a piece incorporated into what they are all about.
In addition to the rhubarb preservation project, Round River produces gifts on-site or from within the region, offers consultations and outreach workshops in regards to solar energy issues, farming, and too many more to name.
The Shalom Seed Sanctuary, directed by Mrs. Abazs, just one part of the operation, was founded in 1988 as an effort to respond to the loss of resources needed to aid in sustainable living.
Their mission is to research and educate on how to preserve plant varieties, domestic animal breeds, and retain genetic information for the future.
The rhubarb-preservation-project has become a huge part of the seed sanctuary, and their site location has proven to be the ideal spot to do this.
There doesn't seem to have been much effort placed on ensuring the many varieties.
The Shalom Seed Sanctuary is working hard at trying to do this very thing, by starting a rhubarb collection of samples.
You can help sponsor this part of the seed-sanctuary, or directly to the rhubarb preservation project.
By visiting the site, you can see just what kind of a rhubarb collection they have started. There are some great pictures of what's going on.
There is also a long list of the varieties the seed-sanctuary is still looking for, and if you can contribute a rhubarb sample, or know of someone else who might be able to, they sure would be
happy to hear from you.
